Bayern Munich will be without right-back Sacha Boey, who suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee during training on Sunday.
In the statement issued by the Bavarian club, the player underwent surgery immediately for the injury and will be out for "several weeks", which will mean he will miss his team's Champions League clash against Barcelona on 23 October, among other matches.
The French full-back, who was barely counted on by former coach Thomas Tuchel, had been given playing time at the start of the season and started in his side's 6-1 win over Holstein Kiel.
The repositioning of Joshua Kimmich, who had been moved back into midfield by coach Vincent Kompany, had given him opportunities at the start of the season, with some good performances. However, his progress will now be halted by an injury that could keep him sidelined for up to two months.
