Kobbie Mainoo has quickly risen up the team rankings of manager Erik ten Hag since his promotion to the first team from the under-21s side. Man United have been impressed by the youth product throughout the past year, so much so, that the club now want to cement his future at Old Trafford.
According to transfer expert Nicolo Schira, Manchester United and Mainoo are 'one step away' from reaching an agreement on a contract extension. The Red Devils have reportedly offered the 19-year-old a contract that could tie Mainoo to Manchester until 2029, with an option to extend for an extra year included in the deal.
Having established himself in the senior squad, the homegrown hero is ready to be awarded a significant salary increase from the club. Reports from 'Manchester Evening News', reveal that the situation between the two parties has been "relaxed" as there is "no rush" to finalise the deal.
Mainoo is currently sidelined due to fitness concerns that have forced him to withdraw from the England camp and therefore miss the Nations League fixtures this month. The player did not travel with the squad to Helsinki ahead of the match against Finland as he awaits medical assessments to determine the extent of his injury.
