Today is the first day that Toni Kroos is no longer a Real Madrid player, so he took the opportunity to say goodbye once again on his social networks. The German, who will face the Spanish national team in the quarter-finals of the European Championship, shared an image of himself with the 15th Champions League trophy, along with a short text in which he acknowledged that he feels "weird", but, above all, "grateful".

Toni Kroos is no longer a Real Madrid player. His contract was due to expire on 30th June and it was already announced that he was not going to renew it, as he will retire after the European Championship. The fact is that on Monday it was the first day of his life without having anything to do, in terms of work, with the Santiago Bernabeu outfit, to which he once again said goodbye with a brief post on his Instagram profile. He used a photo of himself with the 15th Champions League trophy to address the fans.
"Picture 1 shows the missing piece of picture 2! Today is officially my last day as a Real Madrid player. Feels weird but i’ll always be one of you @realmadrid Forever grateful!" wrote the German, who will be in the spotlight on Friday as he takes on the Spanish national team in the quarter-finals of the continental championship on home soil. In fact, he is one of the biggest threats to Luis de la Fuente's side.
The midfielder has already said goodbye on several occasions during the celebrations of the 15th UCL title he lifted in his last campaign as a 'Merengue', in which he showed an outstanding performance despite the proximity of his coming retirement. Over the years, his 23-24 season will be remembered as one of the best last elite sporting years in the world of football.
Real Madrid have also adapted their reality to the end of the contracts of several of their players. On their website, Toni Kroos no longer appears as a member of the squad, but Kylian Mbappe and Endrick do. However, the Brazilian is still awaiting to come of age, but, as he will do so on the 21st, 'Los Blancos' have gone ahead and included him on their roster, as, by the time he takes the field, he will already be 18 years old.
