Four months have passed since Kroos' last game. The German, who announced his retirement at the end of May, ended his football career with Germany's quarter-final exit against Spain.
Since then, the former Real Madrid player has been involved in other projects, such as the Icon League. Despite being involved in other things, Kroos always keeps the La Liga side in his mind. Speaking on his brother Felix's Einfach mal Luppen podcast on Tuesday, the former midfielder opened the door to a possible return to the club to take up a position.
"The meaning of Madrid will always be the same for me. It was too long, too big, too successful and too full of love for Madrid. It will always be like that. I will always be close to Real, that's for sure. Defending Real and being on their side, always. That relationship is simply too close for it to change," he said.
"I'm fully occupied with my projects now, but given my relationship with Madrid, I would never rule out doing something at the club at some point in the future," added Kroos, who made it very clear that in the short term, it is unfeasible.
"To appear now in the public environment of the club... the first thing I would say is no, no matter how close I feel. But I'm not saying that I'm not going to do anything or have any relationship with Madrid in my life. Of course, I wouldn't rule it out. I don't know in what role, or whether the club could imagine it or not, but I wouldn't rule out seeing myself back in some way at Madrid at some point."
