Real Sociedad have been eliminated in the last 16 of the Champions League and their main perpetrator has been the French superstar Kylian Mbappe, who scored 3 goals on aggregate. But the Bondy-born player has not only been a nightmare for the 'Txuri-urdines', but Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have also been victims of his quality and talent.
Mbappe has 10 goals in nine matches in Europe's top competition against Spanish clubs. In addition to the three he has scored against the Donostia-San Sebastian side, he has scored another three against 'Los Blancos' and netted another four against the 'Cules'.
With his goals against the Basque side, the Frenchman is now one of the top five scorers in the Champions League against Spanish teams, level with Thomas Muller. Ahead of him are Cristiano Ronaldo with 11 goals, Didier Drogba and Andriy Shevchenko, with 12 and, as top scorer against La Liga clubs, Robert Lewandowski, who has 14.
The French striker has scored four times in Round of 16 ties against La Liga sides. On two occasions, the draw has paired his PSG side with Real Madrid, once with Barcelona and on this last occasion with Real Sociedad. So far, they have progressed to the next round 50% of the time. The Parisians lost in the 2 ties against the 'Merengues' and they have made it through against the Catalans and the Basques.

Regardless of the French club's defeats, Mbappe's performances have always been on a par with his differential level. In the clashes against 'Los Blancos' in 2022, the French star, despite being eliminated, scored two goals and put in a superb performance. In the previous one, in 2018, he was more lacklustre and failed to find the back of the net. In the group stage, in November 2019, he was able to score a goal at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Quite the opposite was the case against FC Barcelona. The world champion destroyed the 'Cules' in the first leg at Camp Nou, scoring an impressive hat trick. In addition, in the second leg, he scored another goal, this time from the penalty spot.
Real Sociedad have been the latest victim of an absolutely devastating player who has been outstanding against Spanish teams. This could be a warning for La Liga clubs next season if his signing for Real Madrid is confirmed.
