Joan Laporta and Barcelona, on social media, have congratulated Messi for winning The Best 2022. The PSG player spent the most of his career in Catalonia, and since arriving at the Parc des Princes, a return has been rumoured several times, but it hasn't been possible. Having said that, the 'Cules' celebrated his win as if he was still part of their club.

Leo Messi won The Best 2022. The Argentinian confirmed the general consensus that winning the World Cup was going to have a big impact on the gala, as Emi Martinez was named best goalkeeper and 'Albiceleste' coach Lionel Scaloni was named the best manager. Joan Laporta and Barcelona, on their social medias, took it upon themselves to congratulate their ex-star.
"Congratulations, Leo!", the 'Cule' side posted. Their President then cited this and added: "Congratulations, Leo Messi! A new and deserved recognition of your legendary career. We 'Cules' will always be proud that you are part of our history". The fans, delighted with the tweet, used it as a chance to ask for his return.
This was the third time that Galtier's number 30 has won the award. The last times being 2009 and 2019, when he was still at the Catalan side. He's currently equalling the amount of trophies as Ronaldo Nazario (1996, 1997 and 2002), Zinedine Zidane (1998, 2000 and 2003) and Cristiano Ronaldo (2008, 2016 and 2017), who was left out this year of the World XI for the first time since 2006.
Messi, at 35 years old, owes the prize to a fantastic first season at PSG, but mainly to winning the World Cup with Argentina. He already got close several times in the past and it has been used to say he wasn't the best of all time, but he now has it in his trophy cabinet and individual accolades have come in abundance.
