In recent weeks, reports have emerged linking Ronald Araujo's future with Bayern. The defender was waiting for a signal from Barca to make it clear to him that they are counting on him in the long term and now he has it. According to 'Mundo Deportivo', the president, Joan Laporta, has intervened in the negotiations to extend his stay in Barcelona.
The manager's action was based on conveying to him that he is a bastion of the project, a fundamental value of the squad now led by Xavi Hernandez. In this regard, it should be borne in mind that his current conditions extend until the summer of 2026 with a cancellation clause of 1 billion euros.
Meanwhile, the same Catalan newspaper has revealed that the club's top brass have rejected an offer of 35 million euros for academy player Hector Fort. The name of the suitor who wanted to acquire him has not come to light, although, at just 17 years of age, any European club could have taken notice of his talent, which has already earned him a debut with the Azulgrana senior team.
Recently, Laporta himself spoke on a 'Barca Studios' podcast about how he has already declined several big-money offers for talents such as the aforementioned Frenkie de Jong, Fermin Lopez, Alejandro Balde, Gavi and Pedri Gonzalez. What is remarkable in this regard is how he is weathering a stormy economic crisis that would be easy to tie up in case he were to part with any of these players.
