Barcelona winger Raphael Dias 'Raphinha' explained in an interview broadcast on the Catalan club's social networks that, after last season, he went to a professional to overcome his confidence problems and pointed to this treatment as one of the keys to his current performance.
“Last season, I was not confident on an individual basis, I was not consistent in my games. Then, because of the difficulties I went through, I sought out a professional who could help me understand what I was feeling. This season, the confidence changed, the way of thinking changed. I am living the best moment of my career,” he said.
The Brazilian international defined himself as “a fighter” who “always tries to give the best” of himself on the pitch and admitted that he feels “very happy and privileged” to be one of Barcelona's captains this season, in which he has 20 goals and 9 assists in 29 games.
Raphinha, who scored 10 goals and 11 assists in 37 games last season, recalled that when he started playing football , he was questioned about his physique: “I used to be extremely skinny, and people used to say that I didn't have the strength or size needed to compete. I think that gave me the motivation to fight and prove that playing football doesn't rely solely on size or strength”.
Finally, the Barcelona striker revealed that “having seen the great Brazilian idols” who have worn the 'Cule' jersey throughout history “was also a motivation” to follow his “dream” of becoming a professional footballer.
