It is all but certain that Robin Le Normand will play for Atletico Madrid next season. The Real Sociedad defender is in Germany, focused on the Spanish national team and preparing for the quarterfinals against the hosts, but this has not been an obstacle for his agents to reach an agreement between the 'Colchoneros' board and the Basque side, the details of which have already come to light.
Both Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto, in 'Relevo', reported that the agreement between the parties is closed so that the central defender joins the ranks of Diego Simeone for between 28 and 30 million euros. The 'Colchoneros' had been interested in him since February, that is, for about five months, but were not willing to pay the 40 million euros that the 'Txuri-urdin' were asking for him.
It should be noted that the former Stade Brestois player has a contract until June 30th, 2026 with the club, so they had the upper hand in the negotiations. Enrique Cerezo's board decided to put more money on the table than they had initially estimated, thanks to the sale of Caglar Soyuncu to Fenerbahce for around 10 million euros. The margin gained has been fundamental to approach the Basques.
Atletico Madrid do not rule out going for another defender to fit in with a kind of restructuring that is being cooked in their squad. In parallel, the newspaper mentioned in the second paragraph of this news develops that Robin Le Normand, who is focused on his duties with Spain in the European Championship, has given the go-ahead to this change of scenery in his career.
