Portugal could be an interesting team to follow in the run-up to the EURO: Cristiano Ronaldo, Vitinha, Pepe, Bernardo Silva... Not only do their training camps radiate quality and experience, but they also have interesting conversations. One of them took place, some time ago, between Rafael Leao and Joao Cancelo. The Milan winger tried to get the full-back, owned by Manchester City, to join his Serie A team.
He told this in an interview with Fabrizio Romano, which was published on Tuesday. Laughing, he admitted to the journalist that his compatriot replied that it was not going to be possible. He would later end up at Bayern Munich. He is currently at Barcelona, who signed him on loan in the transfer window at the start of the season and are considering a long-term deal.
"I can say one thing, in the national team, I was talking with Cancelo, because he played for Inter and he told me: ' Honestly, I really like Milan, Milan is a nice club. When I used to play in the stadium against them I felt the supporters and when I was kid I really liked the club and I told him 'come', but he told me 'it's difficult he was with Manchester City, but I tried," said Rafael Leao
Speaking about one of his role models, Cristiano Ronaldo, and what it means to have shared a dressing room with him, he said: "I don't think it's about talent, but about mentality, about how you prepare for your game during the week, before training, so it's a pleasure and I'm proud to play with him in the national team and I think for us, the young players, because there are many, Joao Felix and the rest, I think it's a pleasure to have him in the team and to play with him. I think he is an example for everybody," he concluded.
