RB Leipzig coach Rose said he will not believe Bellingham will be a Madrid absentee for the game against his side in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie until he sees he is not at the stadium. "I know him. He does everything to play in a Champions League game," Rose, who played alongside Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund">Borussia Dortmund, told the pre-match press conference at Leipzig's Leipzig Sports City.
The England player, injured with a "high-grade sprain" in his left ankle last Saturday during the match against Girona, has not travelled with the Madrid expedition to Leipzig for the first leg of the Champions League round of 16. "I've read a lot, but we'll see," he added.
Bellingham, according to Rose, is now at the "right" club and he stressed that he is not surprised that, given the commitment he shows in games, he suffered an injury in the game against Girona. "He's a wonderful kid with a great mentality. An incredible player who has continued to grow," he said.
The Real Madrid expedition is already in Germany, where, due to a strike by airport security staff, especially in the area of Saxony, to which Leipzig belongs, their plane landed in Erfurt (Thuringia), some 146 kilometres from their place of concentration. Aside from Bellingham, Rose said his team will have to go out without complexes against Real Madrid and look for their chances.
