Chelsea paid £47m for Timo Werner after the striker shone in his performances for Leipzig in the Bundesliga. The German player's spell in the Premier League was not as good as expected. He only managed to score 10 goals in 56 games.
Leipzig bought back Werner for £25m just a year after his sale but the player is not making it into Marco Rose's plans as he is considered the team's fourth striker, behind Lois Openda, Benjamin Sesko and Yussuf Poulsen.
According to German media 'Spox', Leipzig sporting director Schroder is willing to listen to offers for the 27-year-old. "We look carefully at our squad, and we want players who have that something a bit different in their heads. Those are the types of players who we will pick," declared Schroder.
"Timo is going through a difficult spell, and we are supporting him. Life isn't always sunshine. If he has the notion that he would like to do something else, then we will deal with it. He is a part of our team, and he has to face up to competition for places," added the Leipzig sporting director.
Schroder has said Werner will overcome his problems, but the January transfer window is approaching and the player could leave the German club. Werner was close to a loan move to Newcastle but his wages were an obstacle for Eddie Howe's side. Fabrizio Romano also tipped Juventus as a possible destination for the Leipzig striker.
