Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz named Bundesliga Player of the Season

With 32 appearances, 26 of them starts, and a tally of 11 goals and 11 assists in addition to the championship title, Florian Wirtz has been named 2023/24 Bundesliga Player of the Season. The championship itself and his club, Bayer Leverkusen, confirmed the award for the 21-year-old midfielder who, in his fifth season in his country's top flight, has established himself thanks to the talents that Xabi Alonso has brought to his attention.
The Spanish coach has turned his project into a machine capable of putting an end to Bayern Munich's reign thanks to a season without a single defeat. Curiously, when the Allianz Arena side have failed to set such a record in previous editions, it has always been because they have lost one of their domestic games to the team sponsored by the well-known pharmaceutical company.
His young midfielder, called up to Julian Nagelsmann's squad for this summer's European Championship, has shone not only statistically, but also for the way he has dominated the style of play of his side.
