Lewandowski believes Barca can do great things in the Champions League this year and admitted in an interview with the club's official media that they are taking it more seriously than last time. "Our participation in the tournament ended too early last time. It's much more important now," he commented.
"The whole club has put much more emphasis on it because we are aware of how important it is for us. We are also more prepared. Last year things were a lot more chaotic.... Now there is more stability. There have been some changes in personnel, but the core, not only of the team, but of the management structure, has been maintained," he continued.
The Polish player is in no doubt that Barcelona can succeed in Europe: "I think this season will be much better in terms of performances and, in particular, in the Champions League. That's what we expect from ourselves."
He admits, however, that not everything will depend on the players. "We know that it's also a question of luck.... We want to focus between now and the end of the year on winning our group and then prepare for our opponents. We want to play football that is not only effective, but also intelligent," he stressed.
"We have a lot of potential. We won LaLiga and the Super Cup and our expectations are growing. We will do everything we can to finish first in the regularity tournament and go as far as possible in the Champions League," he added.
Finally, he said he is "open" to whatever Xavi proposes: "Despite my experience, I'm still learning things from him that can help me score more goals and be more useful to the team during matches. The coach is improving and his work is becoming more and more visible".
