Gerard Pique played in his final home game for Barcelona against Almeria in La Liga and it was an exciting start to the contest. With less than 10 minutes on the clock, the referee gave a penalty for handball after a VAR check.
After not giving it initially, the referee went to the monitor to review the incident and decided that it should be a penalty. The crowd called for the captain to take it, but Pique pointed at Lewandowski given that he is the specialist.
However, the Pole failed to convert it. Lewandowski stuttered in his run-up and struck Fernando's right hand post. He had managed to send the goalkeeper the wrong way, but failed to hit the target.
The most eyecatching thing though was to see Pique immediately tell Lewandowski to take the spot kick. Even though it was Pique's farewell, he decided to think about the team, but Lewandowski failed to do his bit.
