Barcelona were once again involved in a European night to forget. Xavi's men got knocked out of the Europa League at the hands of Manchester United. At Old Trafford, the Spanish giants saw themselves eliminated at the Round of 32 stage.
It was a game which couldn't have started better for the Catalan side, as after a quarter of an hour of play, Robert Lewandowski put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot. It was his first against the Red Devils in his career, and his first for the 'Cules' from the 12 yard spot so far.
Then came the goals from Fred and Antony. But the Pole's goal means that Barca have to pay Bayern Munich €1.25 million, as there was a line in his contract saying they would have to pay said amount if he reached the 25 goal mark, according to 'AS'.
It was a figure which he reached at Old Trafford. Lewandowski has now got 15 goals in La Liga, a tournament in which he is the top goal scorer, two in the Copa del Rey, five in the Champions League, one in the Europa League and two in the Spanish Super Cup.
