Joshua Kimmich, who has been playing for Bayern Munich for nine seasons, could change his destination when his contract expires in 2025. He already has several suitors eyeing his situation but two Premier League giants have joined the race for his services.
According to 'The Sun', Manchester City and Liverpool are interested in signing him as a free agent in 18 months' time but the German giants will look to negotiate with them before his contract expires.
The same media outlet reports that the Reds are closer to signing the German midfielder because of Liverpool sporting director Jorg Schmadtke's good connections to the Bundesliga.
Meanwhile, Spanish giants Barcelona also want to secure Kimmich's services and even tried to move for him in the last summer transfer window.
However, the 28-year-old turned down the La Liga outfit to continue playing in Germany. In any case, the Catalan side would have had a hard time signing him because of their financial problems.
