According to 'The Sun', the 52-year-old tried to cross the highway to get to the hotel (NH Hotel) where he was staying the day before Liverpool's Champions League meeting against AC Milan.
The same media outlet reports that the deceased had a ticket in his pocket to watch his team's European match at the San Siro. According to reports in Italy, another man with his son was also seen in the same area but did not cross the highway.
Italian police are investigating the man's condition when he was hit and the reasons why he did not receive assistance on the highway.
