Piotr Zielinksi has spent his entire professional footballing career in Italy. He started from the Udinese youth academy and made his way to Empoli and Napoli before arriving at Inter Milan last summer. However, he revealed that a move to the Premier League was well in the cards for him.
The midfielder shared a curious backstory as he spoke to 'FootTruck'. "Klopp invited me to his house. Liverpool sent me a private jet to take me and I was so shocked because I had never travelled in such luxurious conditions," the Inter Milan player admitted.
According to Zielinski, the Reds boss was a great admirer of his. "Klopp told me that he thought of me as a mix between Fabregas and Gundogan. I don't speak German so I didn't understand anything but my agent was translating everything he was saying for me. Klopp really wanted me at Liverpool".
Nevertheless, the move never materialised as Liverpool were not able to meet Udinese's demands. "They offered 18,5 millions for me but Udinese wanted more. At the time, Liverpool couldn't afford to cross a certain limit because I wasn't considered a top player, and I certainly didn't deem myself to be one either," explained Zielinski.
