Controversial Irish fighter Conor McGregor has expressed his interest on Twitter about buying Liverpool, after it was leaked this week that the current owners of the English club, Fenway Sports (FSG), want to sell it.
"I'd love to!", one of the richest sportmen in the world from Dublin wrote in capital letters on Wednesday on his Twitter account, who had already said in the past that he was interested in buying the English side.
Last March, he said he was interested in putting in an offer for Manchester United, Chelsea or Celtic, the Scottish club with Irish roots.
McGregor indicated this Wednesday in his tweet than "as soon as" he found out about the news, he asked for "information about it".
"What a turn of events! What a club!", the martial arts superstar rejoiced. Mcgregor revealed that as a child he was a United fan, before his loyalties shifted towards Liverpool, as he recognised in the Champions League final that the Reds played against Real Madrid in 2022.
"Don't be in any doubt that in the future I'm thinking about buying a football franchise", the Irish man said.
British news source 'The Athletic' revealed this Monday that FSG were interested in the possibility of welcoming new owners to run Liverpool, which it has owned since 2010.
In response to this, FSG, who also run the Boston Red Sox and other communication media, said that "on several occasions", they have already stated that, "under the right circumstances, we would consider new owners if this was in Liverpool's best interests as a club".
