Liverpool's injury problems have been aggravated as manager Arne Slot confirmed that Conor Bradley is likely to miss several key games after a setback during the midweek draw against Aston Villa.
The right-back, who had come on for Trent Alexander-Arnold, was forced off after 23 minutes after feeling discomfort during a sprint.
Slot expressed his concern at the post-match press conference: "It is difficult but he felt something when he made a sprint. All the time with injuries, I always say if a player wants to go off himself then it's not a promising sign."
The Dutch manager ruled Bradley out of Sunday's crucial clash against title rivals Manchester City, adding: "It means he is 99.9 per cent not available for Manchester City and I don't expect him against Newcastle either."
The injury comes at a particularly unfortunate time for Liverpool as they prepare to face two of the Premier League's top sides.
Slot's prediction suggests Bradley's absence could extend beyond these immediate fixtures, and the manager admitted: "We will have to see if it is one, two weeks or longer."
