If there's one word that could say about Liverpool's season this year, disastrous. With the possibility of not making it to the UEFA Champions League, this has been one of the most challenging seasons under the reign of Jurgen Klopp.

Of course, it is too harsh to say that Liverpool's season this year is beyond par if you look at where Liverpool used to finish before Klopp took over, but that's in the past.
Since the Klopp takeover, Liverpool went back to where they belong - the top 3 and this year is a dismal performance in contrast to their seasons. Injuries, wrong signings and lousy form in defence were all contributing factors that led to where we are.
There were concerns that the time Klopp had with Liverpool was coming to an end as many individuals who were season ticket holders, according to reseller platform Seatsnet, added. But, the positives still weigh in Klopp's favour - the impact he's made in the side going from a little above mediocre to a championship-winning side.
One season shouldn't be the benchmark for assessing a coach's performance and capabilities. Last year, Liverpool was going neck and dn neck with Manchester City until the final week of the Premier League and made the UEFA Champions League final.
Having these conversations a year apart is too soon and inconsiderate by looking at the achievements that have come the club's way in the last few years.
Several factors contributed to Liverpool's disappointing 2022-23 season. One of the biggest problems was injuries. The Reds were hit hard by injuries throughout the season, with key players like Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane all missing significant time.
This lack of availability forced Klopp to change his starting lineup, which disrupted the team's rhythm.
Another area for improvement for Liverpool was their form in front of goal. The Reds scored 68 goals in the Premier League, their lowest total since the 2016-17 season. This lack of goals was a major factor in their failure to qualify for the Champions League.
Liverpool have had a mixed start to the Premier League season, with some impressive wins and some disappointing losses. One of the main reasons for the Reds' inconsistency has been their defensive problems.
One of the biggest problems for Liverpool has been injuries to their defensive henchman, who've carried the team through in the last few seasons. Virgil van Dijk, one of the best centre-backs in the world, has been out for the entire season with an ACL injury.
Joe Gomez has been injured for most of the season, and Joel Matip has been inconsistent. This has forced Klopp to use different centre-back pairings, which has disrupted the team's defensive rhythm.
The injuries also made way to a critical stat, something that the team would want to airbrush from their history books once the season is over is their tendency to concede first in games.
In fact, as of May 2023, Liverpool has conceded first in 16 of their 35 Premier League games this season. This is the most time any team has conceded first in the league this season. Many with Liverpool tickets have often shown their dismay at this horrendous stat, which is one of the reasons many tickets go back into listing even after thoughtful consideration during a purchase. This was evident during the Champions League games, where fans listed their second-leg tickets against Real Madrid after the five-goal thrashing back on Seatsnet.
The conceding issue was not fixed, although Liverpool improved in the last few weeks. Alisson has been doing most of the work to keep the goals away. He's gotten 13 clean sheets this season and something he would treasure over any other achievement in the last few years.
Ever since the lad made his debut for his dream club - the Merseyside Reds, he has been a treat to watch for the fans. Seatsnet saw an incredible rise in ticket demand from the day that Trent made it in the red colours is on the rise.
But this season has been a slow start.
What made the English youngster so brilliant in his game was his ability to assist the attack from the back and look at opportunities and spaces that no other player saw. When Liverpool signed Darwin Nunez, everyone remembers the post from TAA on "How may I assist you".
It took him six months to stay true to his statement, with his first assist coming to Nunez in the FA Cup in January.
And he has three this season under his name.
In the 2021/2022 season, Alexander-Arnold provided 19 assists in all competitions. He was the Premier League's top assist provider and was named in the PFA Team of the Year. However, in the 2022/2023 season, Alexander-Arnold has only provided two assists in all competitions. He has also made more errors this season than in previous seasons.
There are several reasons for Alexander-Arnold's poor form this season. One reason is that he has been playing with a new centre-back partner, Ibrahima Konate. Konate is a good defender, but he is still learning how to play with Alexander-Arnold, and this has led to some communication problems between the two players.
There are several new players that Jurgen Klopp could bring in to help Liverpool return to the top of English football. One of the most significant needs for the Reds is a new centre-back who can partner with Van Dijk and provide more stability at the back.
Another area where Liverpool could improve is in midfield. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are getting older, and Naby Keita has struggled to stay fit. Liverpool stalwart James Milner announced that they would be parting ways with the club to Brighton, which means that Klopp desperately needs to strengthen the midfield.
24-year-old Mason Mount indicated earlier to Chelsea about his future, and with the Blues' in calamity, he might be an excellent add-on to the Reds. If you look at the Mount's performance, he has the skill to drift into spaces often not seen by your traditional midfielder, finding pockets between the attack and defence.
Mount will be an expensive signing, considering his potential and his track record with Chelsea over the years.
Alex Mac Allister is one other find that Liverpool has their eyes on. The Brighton midfielder was the side's anchor, currently seeing a top-ten finish in the league with a stunning performance throughout the season.
Mac Allister is a crucial player for Brighton & Hove Albion because he can retain possession, beat his man, and create chances. His turnover rate of 13.6% is fourth-best among all central midfielders in the Premier League this season.
From the reigns of Graham Potter at Brighton to now, seatsnet saw an increased demand for Brighton tickets this season, thanks to their scintillating performance on the field, taking the fight to the bigger sides.
Klopp has said he is happy at Liverpool and wants to stay. However, he also said he would not be at the club forever. Klopp is 54 years old and said he wants to manage for another five years. However, the legacy he's left with Liverpool will be written in gold in their accolades, bringing home back to a depleted Liverpool team and an increase in ticket sales, according to Seatsnet.
Suppose Klopp does stay at Liverpool for another five years. In that case, he will have the opportunity to win more trophies and cement his legacy as one of the greatest managers in Liverpool's history.
