Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is forced away from the pitch after fracturing his foot whilst on international duty. The 21-year-old will be out until late October at least, and will, therefore, not be available to manager Arne Slot until the end of the next international break, the earliest.
The injury blow adds to Elliott's frustrating start to the 2024/2025 season, as he has failed to start in any of Liverpool's first three Premier League games - featuring for only seven minutes from the bench - despite starring in pre-season for the Reds. The player's hopes to recover the minutes missed in the Premier League with the England under-21s squad were quickly denied, as aggravating an existing issue quickly lead to his foot fracturing.
Elliott's absence comes at a crucial time for Liverpool, as with a busy run of fixtures, the midfielder would have likely featured in the Reds' League Cup game against West Ham to allow for squad rotation.
Liverpool now count two injuries in midfield as Argentinian Alexis MacAllister's conditions will be assessed ahead of the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest at Anflield on the 14th of September. Curtis Jones was also unavailable after sustaining an injury, though the 23-yea-old has returned to full training.
