Lucas Leiva to retire because of "serious heart problem"
Gremio footballer Lucas Leiva will confirm his retirement from professional football due to a heart problem. According to 'Esportes GZH', the condition is very serious, but it will not prevent him from leading a normal life. That said, he will no longer be able to play professional football.

Gremio announced via their official channels that Lucas Leiva had medical tests which detected a heart problem. The midfielder will not return to action for the time being and he will have more tests.
However, according to 'Esportes GZH', the Brazilian midfielder will quit professional football for good due to a "serious heart problem."
The same media outlet said that Lucas will be able to have a normal life, but that he will not be able to top level physical activity.
At the age of 35, the midfielder was key to coach Renato Gaucho's team. He made 17 appearances in the Brazilian league after leaving Lazio. His contract, which was expiring in June 2023, will end prematurely because of the Brazilian's health.
