It doesn't look like Lucas Vazquez is exactly happy with the Spanish national team's call-up list for the European Championship. The Real Madrid player, shortly after Luis de la Fuente's choices were announced, posted two laughing emojies on his official Twitter profile. This season, he has had a greater role at Real Madrid for the injuries that have affected Carlo Ancelotti's plans.
It is impossible to determine the real reason he issued the aforementioned 'post', but it is understood that he either thinks he should have been included in the squad or that he disagrees with the one that has been announced. He has featured 37 times this season, 18 of them starts, with important performances such as 'El Clasico' in mid-April, when the 'Merengues' beat Barcelona with a goal and an assist from the right back.
He also started the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich, although he was benched for the second leg, as well as the first leg of the quarter-final against Manchester City, although his coach used him as a substitute at the Etihad Stadium. The fact is that he gave a performance that, according to what he said on the internet, he believes should have been taken into account.
It should be noted that the list of full-backs, a position in which Lucas has specialised since he took a step back from his original position as a winger, is quite complicated in the Spanish national team. A top talent in the recently completed season like Miguel Gutierrez, for example, has been left out despite Jose Gaya's injury. In the end, Marc Cucurella and Alejandro Grimaldo on one side and Dani Carvajal and Jesus Navas on the other made it into De la Fuente's plans.
