On Friday, Louzan met with Madrid's mayor, Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida, to discuss the potential hosting of the Champions League final in 2027, as well as the city's role as a venue for the 2030 World Cup.
"We have many projects planned for the Spanish capital. The 2030 World Cup is a major focus, but before that, we are finalising arrangements with UEFA for Madrid to host the 2027 Champions League final. We also have several other important events taking place in the city," Louzan stated.
According to the RFEF, he expressed his satisfaction following his first official meeting with the mayor, describing him as "a very approachable person." He also extended his gratitude for the "exceptional cooperation" the federation has received from Madrid's city council.
The meeting at the Palacio de Cibeles was also attended by Paco Diez, president of the Madrid Football Federation and vice president of the RFEF, RFEF secretary general Alvaro de Miguel, and Madrid's sports delegate, Sonia Cea.
Madrid is one of Spain's host cities for the 2030 World Cup, which will be jointly organised with Morocco and Portugal. The bid dossier includes the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium as a candidate for both the opening match and the final, while the Metropolitano Stadium is expected to host games up to the semi-finals.
The Spanish capital is also being considered as the venue for the tournament's draw, as well as for the International Broadcast Centre (IBC), which would be set up at the Casa de Campo exhibition grounds.
