Carlo Ancelotti expressed his happiness at the renewal of his contract for two more years with Real Madrid, until 20th June 2026, expressing his gratitude to the Brazilian Confederation for their interest and recalling a phrase that he had previously said that it would be his "last bench".
"I am very happy about the renewal, it was quite simple. We agreed it between the two of us without any problems or doubts. It was a quick agreement and I'm very happy to continue for another two years as Real Madrid coach," he told a press conference.
"It's my last bench, I don't know if it will be that year but I confirm that it's my last bench. I don't know when it will be over, it could be 2026 or it could be after that. It will depend on how successful we can be. I want to be coach until that year and hopefully until 2028 because I like Madrid and I want to stay here," he added.
Ancelotti had some nice words for the Brazilian Football Confederation and, in particular, for Ednaldo Rodrigues, who, when he was president, showed his interest in the Italian coach.
"Everyone knows it, it's the reality, Real Madrid know that I have had contact with the president of the Brazilian Federation, Ednaldo Rodrigues, whom I thank for his affection and interest in me coaching the Brazil national team," he explained.
"It made me proud and honoured, but it was all about the situation with Real Madrid. It was clear to everyone. In the last few months he has ceased to be president but I had contact with him and I want to thank him for his affection. In the end it was the way I wanted it to be, to stay here", he concluded.
