Real Madrid have already begun their La Liga title celebrations, having been crowned champions for the 36th time last week with four games to spare. The first event of the day took place at the Valdebebas training centre, where Carlo Ancelotti's team were presented with the trophy.
The man in charge of receiving the trophy was Nacho Fernandez, who for the first time touches silverware as Real Madrid's first captain, something he is extremely happy about and which he was quick to express in his first declarations.
"Happy, very happy. Winning this trophy is always special, it's the reward for the work we've put in all year. We have had a spectacular league season. I remember all the hard work. It makes my hair stand on end thinking about that moment with Cibeles. This time it's my turn as first captain, it's going to be incredible. I've been dreaming about this moment all year. It's a moment that could be once in a lifetime," he told reporters.
"As captain, Nacho has asked on 'Real Madrid TV' that the 'Merengue' fans come to welcome the team: "We have to go to Cibeles because we have won La Liga and it is very difficult. Today is the day to enjoy it. When it's deserved, it's the time to go to Cibeles more than ever. It's also a way of supporting us for that important final we have".
