Just days after it was leaked that Ferland Mendy was reportedly close to reaching an agreement to sign a new contract with Real Madrid, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed what was an open secret.
The French full-back, whose current contract expires with 'Los Blancos' in 2025, has reached an agreement in principle with the Santiago Bernabeu outfit to extend his commitment to the club until 2027 and with an option for a further season.
In this way, Madrid would confirm their third renewal this summer after making official a few weeks ago the renewal of both Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez for another season.
In addition, the 'Merengues' therefore secure a player who is key for Carlo Ancelotti, who already said last season that he considered the former Lyon player the best defensive full-back in the world.
