According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Monaco approached Real Madrid about signing Dani Ceballos on loan when the summer transfer window was open. However, Florentino Perez's board refused outright because they did not contemplate parting with the midfielder.

Dani Ceballos has been the talk of virtually every transfer market since Real Madrid signed him for 16.5 million euros in July 2017.
Real Betis' desire for him to return to Seville, his secondary role in the Spanish capital and the interest emerging from several suitors have reignited his mid-year transfer bid and, a few days ago, a new possibility for him emerged.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Monaco proposed to Real Madrid a loan offer for the midfielder's services but 'Los Blancos' rejected it outright because it is not a formula they have in mind. It is quite likely that they would rather opt for a permanent transfer.
The player is currently injured and is not expected to return for just under two months. He started the La Liga match against his former team on 1st September and was substituted midway through the second half. Shortly afterwards, his club's medical services detected a grade III sprain in his right ankle that would reduce his playing time.
