Carlo Ancelotti has named 20 players for the third matchday of LaLiga EA Sports 2024-25, when Real Madrid visit Gran Canaria to face Las Palmas. The Italian coach's list has the only notable new addition in Ferland Mendy.
As expected, the French left-back has returned to the squad as soon as he has served his suspension. Mendy was sent off in the last minutes of the 1-1 draw against Mallorca, so he missed the opening game at the Bernabeu against Real Valladolid.
Fran Garcia played well in the 3-0 win on the left flank, so it is now up to Carlo Ancelotti to decide who plays on Thursday. He could rest him, but it is likely that for Sunday's game against Real Betis he will prefer to rely on the defensive talent of Mendy.
Elsewhere, Madrid trained at Valdebebas on Wednesday with David Alaba, Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga, who are not expected before the international break, already absent. None of them have been included in the squad, with Jesus Vallejo also absent after training on his own.
The list includes home-grown players Jacobo Ramon and Fran Gonzalez, who will play as the third goalkeeper. Real Madrid are chasing their first away win of the season in Gran Canaria, as they look to get back on track in the race for the league title. It's only just begun, but every point counts.
Goalkeepers: Courtois, Lunin and Fran Gonzalez.
Defenders: Carvajal, Militao, Lucas Vazquez, Fran Garcia, Rudiger, Mendy and Jacobo Ramon.
Midfielders: Valverde, Modric, Tchouameni, Arda Guler and Ceballos.
Forwards: Vinicius, Mbappe, Rodrygo, Endrick and Brahim.
