There has been a lot of doubt about the continuation of Real Madrid's Karim Benzema. The Spanish side are planning next season without being sure whether the forward will renew or will leave the club, and so they have a long list of possible replacements. Now, 'Revelo' reported that Kai Havertz's name has graced the offices of the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid have been in some turmoil in recent days. The dizzying offer that Benzema received from Saudi Arabia, which would see him receive 200 million euros, has made him consider his future and the club expects a busy summer with many rumors and operations.
However, 'Marca' reported on Thursday that the French striker will fulfill his contract and will stay until June 2024 to leave properly. Although nothing is clear, doubts remain at the Santiago Bernabeu and there are many names to fill the vacancy of '9'.
Joselu Mato will return to the Madrid to occupy the role of substitute striker and thus replace Mariano Diaz, who has decided to leave the club. However, the position of first-choice striker is still up in the air and the name of Kai Havertz has joined Harry Kane's.
The Chelsea striker is well-liked by Florentino Perez, who has been dazzled by the 3 qualifiers played against the Blues in the Champions League since 2021. According to 'Relevo', the club sees this operation as much more feasible and cheaper than that of the Spurs frontman.
The 23-year-old German will be out of contract in London in 2025, and alongside Joao felix, is not a priority for new manager Pochettino. He wouldn't mind if Havertz left in order to raise some money for the club and allow him to include a player in his squad more to the coach's liking.
The signing of the German would be strategic because of the way he plays. On the one hand, he would fill the gap left by Asensio, as he can play in any position up front, either on either of the two wings or in the center as a false '9', and he would also not crowd the striker position.
This is another key detail as summer 2024 looks to be a big one for Madrid, who are closely watching the end of Kylian Mbappe's contract with PSG, and Erling Haaland's release clause. This season, Havertz put away nine goals and provided one assist, far from his best numbers at Chelsea. Not playing in Europe next season might also push the German to look elsewhere.
