According to 'Revelo', Real Madrid are looking for a number '9' to light a fire under Karim Benzema, and they seem to have landed on former 'Merengue' Joselu, a good goal-scorer and a cheap sigining. Mariano's days are numbered.

After the masterclass City showed against Madrid in the second leg of the UCL semi-finals (4-0) on Wednesday, Madrid have put an end to their season, and Ancelotti has set a meeting with Florentino Perez to discuss the 2023/24 season.
It seems the Italian will continue in Madrid, despite the calls from the Brazil National team. One of Ancelotti's demands however is the signing of a '9' and the name on the cards is Joselu Mato, a former 'Merengue', as 'Revelo' reports.
The Spanish international has had an amazing season with 16 goals in 35 games. Looking at his stats in La Liga, the forward, currently playing for Espanyol, has scored 14 goals to date, which makes him the national team's top scorer. Behind him sit Morata and Borja Iglesias with 13 each.
'Revelo' also commented that Joselu is a good choice for Madrid as despite his age (33), he would be cheap, as well as already knowing the club and having friends in the squad. Keeping it in the family even, Carvajal is his brother-in-law.
Looking back, born in Stuttgart, raised in Celta's youth academy, he arrived in Madrid in 2009 and debuted with Madrid on 21st May 2011, in the goalfest against Almeria (8-1). Mourihno brought him on and he scored a goal. He also played a second game, Madrid-Ponferradina in the Copa del Rey, where he also scored. Interestingly, he's only played 18 minutes with the first team of the Spanish side.
Ancelotti had decided that his team need a forward to compete with Benzema, who is far from the Karim he was last season. Mariano will leave, and there will a number '9' shaped hole left for Madrid to fill.
