It what proved to be a less-than-friendly friendly match, Barcelona came out on top against Real Madrid, putting three past 'Los Blancos' thanks to Dembele, Fermin Lopez and Ferran Torres (3-0).
Madrid hit the woodwork five times, three of those courtesy of Vinicius Jr, both sides suffered injuries, and the stakes felt high. The defending Spanish champions proved their metal, and certainly showed themselves to be more clinical, making the most of their chances.
After the match, Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal gave his own take on the clash, speaking to the press: "It was a demanding preparation match. The team is adapting to a new system, but there are positives to take away from the game. We shouldn't have let them score the last two goals".
Slightly more provocatively, the Spanish interantional threw the gaunlet down for the coming season, sending a clear message to the Catalans: "In the moment of truth, we'll come out on top against Barcelona" .
Last season, looking at their head-to-head record, which saw them play five official 'Clasicos', Barcelona walked away victors of three matches, and Madrid just two, but one of those was the emphatic 4-0 triumph in the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
