According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid will not sign Kylian Mbappe as a free agent in the summer transfer window. The main reasons for their decision are his high salary, his performances in recent games and the French star's rejection when he renewed his contract with PSG.

The summer transfer window is still a long way off, but we are already beginning to discuss what are set to be the main stories of the coming summer. One of them, once again, will be Kylian Mbappe's possible arrival at Real Madrid.
However, the whole situation could have taken a U-turn in recent months. As reported by 'Cadena SER', Real Madrid have definitively ruled out signing him for next season, despite the fact that he would join them as a free agent after finishing his contract with his current club.
There are three main reasons given by this media for this big move not to take place. The first of these concerns the large salary scale that the Frenchman would occupy within the squad. As well as being one of the highest paid, his signing bonus would also be sky high.
The second reason is that he is no longer the young player that everyone fell in love with. This would go against Madrid's renewal policy, with very young signings such as Camavinga, Vinicius, Rodrygo and Bellingham set to lead the club for many years to come.
Last but not least, Mbappe's rejection to join Madrid in the summer of 2022, where he ended up renewing his contract with PSG, still stings at the club. Although many members approve of his arrival, many others are still stung by that decision and it would open a debate that could jeopardise the unity of the madridistas.
However, there are still many months ahead and, who knows, if the situation could change. The only reality is that Mbappé's contract expires on 30 June 2024 and he has no intention of renewing his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
