The disastrous run at the end of the season has left Valencia without European places. Financially, this is another problem for a club that in the summer will once again follow its policy of sales and few signings. And among the club's most important remaining assets, Mamardashvili is undoubtedly the most likely to leave the club in order to make money.
Against Girona, the Georgian goalkeeper won the ‘MVP’, but lost the match (1-3). And it was not only the last game of the season. The player was also aware that it would be the last game defending the club 'Che' at home, so he was overcome with emotion and the television cameras captured him almost in tears.
Just a few hours later, ‘The Times’ published that Newcastle are one of the clubs most interested in signing Mamardashvili. According to the prestigious British newspaper, the ‘Magpies’ would be willing to pay around 41 million euros to sign the 23-year-old goalkeeper, who is considered one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe.
The 16-times capped Georgia international could make his 100th appearance for Valencia after three seasons against Celta Vigo. Meanwhile, Newcastle await the FA Cup final between Manchester City and United to find out if they will be in Europe, as they are mathematically only in seventh place.
Eddie Howe's side currently have Pope and Dubravka as their main goalkeepers, although the Englishman has been injured for much of the season and the Slovakian has struggled for form. The third goalkeeping role was occupied by Karius, but the German is out of contract on 30 June and will not be re-signed.
‘Marca’ reports that Valencia have positioned themselves well to sign Dimitrievski. The Macedonian ends his contract with Rayo Vallecano this summer and would sign as a free agent for the Mestalla club, who would thus gain a guaranteed and veteran goalkeeper to replace Mamardashvili.
