Manchester City are already in North Carolina to begin their pre-season tour and Pep Guardiola held his first press conference on American soil, where he addressed topics such as the Kevin de Bruyne rumours and a possible move to Saudi Arabia.
The coach was also asked about the favouritism of his player Rodri to win the Ballon d'Or, something he is proud of. "There are a few candidates for the Ballon d’Or. Real Madrid, Manchester City… I can’t deny how happy he would be.
"To be in the race is fantastic for him, his family, friends and of course, Man City. We are so proud," added the former Barcelona coach.
The Spanish coach also spoke about the importance of the academy players this pre-season. "The guys have had a long break and are fresh mentally. We have academy players and it’s good for me to see them and for them to train with Erling, Oscar, Kalvin, Jack. It’s a good test to play four games against important teams. It’s a good experience for them and for us as well.
