Kevin De Bruyne could only play 23 minutes of Manchester City's Premier League opener against Burnley at Turf Moor. The Belgian playmaker had to be replaced by Mateo Kovacic after injuring his hamstring.
After reports a few days ago that the midfielder was to undergo tests to determine how long he would be out of action, the Sky Blues confirmed the worst news.
In particular, it was Spanish coach Pep Guardiola who confirmed that De Bruyne will be out for a long period of time: "It’s a serious injury, we have to decide on surgery but he will be out for a few months," said the former Barcelona coach.
Obviously, being injured, the Belgian international is absent from the Cityzens' squad for the UEFA Super Cup final against Sevilla, as are Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias, who will also miss the game.
