There are probably days of tough statements coming from Guardiola in the press room. The Manchester City manager has already complained about this year's heavy schedule. The first international break of the season has cost him an important loss, that of Nathan Ake, who suffered a serious injury on the second matchday of the UEFA Nations League.
The match between the Netherlands and Germany for the top of their group was going normally when just before half-time, the former Bournemouth player tried to control a long pass, hurt his left leg and fell to the ground.
The medical services at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam were soon on the pitch to pick him up on a stretcher so that he would not have to move his joints too much and take him off to the changing rooms. No tears could be seen on the Dutchman's face, but he did have a very worried look on his face as he made his way to the dressing room.
This Wednesday morning, 'The Times' published the feelings at Manchester City about defender Nathan Ake. Those at the Etihad Stadium estimate that he will be out for “a long time”. Pending tests, it is taken for granted his absence against Brentford -Premier League-, Inter Milan -Champions League-, Arsenal -Premier League-, Watford -EFL Cup- and Newcastle -Premier League-, that is to say, the remaining matches this September.
