Man City forward Savinho not fan of Mahrez comparisons

Summer-signing Savinho finally seems to have found his footing after a difficult start to life at Manchester City, The Brazilian star has been able to contribute more to Guardiola's team since starting the 2025 calendar year, with some now comparing him to former City star Ryad Mahrez.
Mahrez spent five years with the Sky Blues before bidding farewell to England in the summer of 2024 to join Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli. The 34-year-old made 236 appearances for Man City registering 78 goals and 56 assists in total, making him one of the most beloved players by the supporters of the club.
But Savinho, who only counts 2 goals and 9 assists from 34 appearances for City, rejected comparisons with Mahrez, as he said: "I don’t like people comparing me to him. Mahrez has his qualities, he was a great Man City player, I have mine as well. Some say we're similar, but I think it’s just he plays his way, I play my way."
Nonetheless, the 20-year-old has a lot of respect for the Algerian forward and admitted that he chose the No. 26 shirt because of him. "But yes I chose it [the number 26 shirt] because of him. I’ve always looked up to him because we play the same wing. He's very skilful, an extraordinary shooter and scorer," Savinho concluded.
