Another chance for Pep Guardiola's Manchester City to win the first title of the 2023/24 season. After the Community Shield defeat against Arsenal, the Cityzens will use their Champions League status to face Sevilla in the final of the European Super Cup.
Pep Guardiola announced the squad list, which had several surprises. The main absentees were De Bruyne, Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva. The Belgian midfielder picked up an injury in the Sky Blues' Premier League opener against Burnley, while the Portuguese midfielder is continuing to work on his recovery.
The case of the Portuguese midfielder is different, who, in principle, is not suffering from any physical discomfort, although there is talk of a possible departure from the club. Neither is Cancelo, who is close to swapping the mancunian club for Barcelona.
These are the 22 players called up by Guardiola:
Goalkeepers: Ederson, Stefan Ortega and Scott Carson.
Defenders: Kyle Walker, Rico Lewis, John Stones, Nathan Ake, Aymeric Laporte, Josko Gvardiol, Manuel Akanji and Sergio Gomez.
Midfielders: Kalvin Phillips, Mateo Kovacic, Rodrigo, Maximo Perrone, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and James McAtee.
Forwards: Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish, Julian Alvarez and Oscar Bobb.
