Kevin De Bruyne has been the most visible face of the Manchester City project in the last decade. The Belgian, the star of the Mancunian team, has been fundamental in the great successes experienced by the Sky Blues, but his time at the Etihad Stadium seems to be coming to an end.
For several weeks now, rumours have been swirling about the Belgian's departure to Saudi Arabia. The player himself has already spoken openly about it in the face of the possibility of receiving a dizzying and unimpressive offer at the age of 33. The Drongen native is said to have accepted the offer.
According to the 'Daily Mail' on Sunday 21st July, De Bruyne has already reached an agreement with Al Ittihad to join the Saudi side this summer. However, his potential new club will have to agree transfer terms with Manchester City, although it seems that will be less of a problem.
De Bruyne only has one year left on his contract with the Cityzens, as his contract expires at the end of the 2024-25 season. Moreover, despite the importance of the player, this would be the perfect time to release a player whose performance, by the logic of time, must already be entering a period of decline.
Thus, if everything goes according to plan, Kevin de Bruyne will head to Saudi Arabia to join Al Ittihad, where he will join up with other big stars and old rivals in his career such as Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante and Fabinho. He could even share a dressing room with a current teammate, as Al Ittihad are also looking to sign goalkeeper Ederson this summer.
