After beating Inter Milan in the 2022-23 Champions League final, Manchester City took the title to complete their historic treble. However, the time is close at hand for them to begin their title defense in Europe's top flight.
However, this summer has seen departures from Pep Guardiola's squad, and other teams have been making careful reinforcements to try and dethrone the Sky Blues.
To make the groups for the first stage of the competition, teams are seeded and put in pots and one team from each pot will be put into each group, so teams in the same pot won't meet before knockouts.
Here are the possible teams that could find themselves in Man City's group:
- Pot 2: Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund">Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Porto and RB Leipzig
- Pot 3: Celtic, Red Star Belgrade, Lazio, Milan, Salzburg, Real Sociedad, Shakhtar Donetsk and Union Berlín
- Pot 4: Lens and the other teams to come through qualifying

There are two categories of teams that won't end up in the same group as the Cityzens:
- Teams in Pot 1: Bayern Munich, Benfica, Feyenoord, Barcelona, Napoli, PSG and Sevilla
- Other English teams: Manchester United, Newcastle United, Arsenal
