Granada announced on Sunday that full-back Alvaro Carreras has left the club after Manchester United decided to end the loan deal that had been in place since the start of the season.
"Granada has received notification from Manchester United, who have decided to end the loan period that linked Alvaro Carreras to Granada until 30 June," the club said in a statement.
Carreras, who did not play in Granada's 1-0 defeat to Real Betis on Saturday, was a player used by Uruguayan coach Alexander Medina, so the club will have to find a replacement for him.
The defender will be transferred in the next few hours by Manchester United to Portuguese side Benfica, according to several reports in Portugal.
