Manchester United are looking to bolster their squad in the upcoming January transfer window and have one position in mind as the main one to strengthen. That position is left-back, which since Sergio Reguilon's loan spell at Old Trafford has ended, has left a vacancy in Ten Hag's defence.
According to reports in 'The Sun', the Red Devils have turned their attention to Miguel Gutierrez, left-back and one of the sensations of La Liga with Girona, as he is considered one of the most in-form full-backs in the competition this season.
The 22-year-old Spaniard is a regular in the starting eleven and was a key player in Michel's side's last 4-3 win over Atletico Madrid. The player has made 20 official appearances for the Catalan side this season, all as a starter, and has one goal and three assists to his name.
Miguel Gutierrez's contract with Girona runs out in 2027 but the Catalans could be persuaded to sell the player for a fee of around £22m. However, it is not as easy as it seems as the player is a product of Real Madrid's youth academy and the 'merengue' team still owns 50% of the player's rights and has a sell-on clause. This could see Carlo Ancelotti's side bid for the left-back either for a future sale or for him to return to play for Real Madrid again after his departure to Girona in 2022.
