Manchester United failed to take any points against Brighton at Old Trafford. The Seagulls put in an incredible performance and managed to claim a 1-3 victory over the Red Devils.
During the match, Ten Hag's team lacked accuracy when they were creating dangerous chances. The Dutch coach decided to bring on fresh legs and one of those who was substituted was Rasmus Hojlund, one of the Mancunian club's most exciting summer signings for the Old Trafford fans.
The Danish striker was replaced by Martial when the Red Devils were trailing 0-2 in the 65th minute. Manchester United fans showed their disagreement with the Ajax manager's decision by booing.
Ten Hag was asked at a press conference about the reaction of the Old Trafford crowd to which he responded: "It was overall positive. You see the fans in the first moment at Old Trafford, the reception was great, he performed very well, it was good they gave this signal, will give him belief. He came in with a small issue, he is not ready for a whole game.
The former Ajax boss also spoke about the Danish striker's disallowed goal just before half-time, which would have been his first in a Manchester United shirt: "He was unlucky with the disallowed goal, it would have been a great afternoon for him. It was not the case but he will keep going. He is a strong character as we are as a team and we will push back."
