Manchester United are not going through their best moment this season. The Red Devils are in 10th place in the Premier League with 9 points and 4 defeats in 7 games. Erik Ten Hag's side signed Andre Onana this summer from Inter Milan for £47 million and signed him on a five-year contract.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper has not had the best possible start to the season as he has made numerous mistakes, some costing Ten Hag's side points. According to Chris Sutton's report, Manchester United could already be looking for a goalkeeper in the transfer market to replace Onana who was supposed to be a better replacement for De Gea in the Man Utd goal.
“I think he's a downgrade on De Gea. I really do. I've seen enough of him. Is he better than De Gea with his feet? Probably, only just. But I'm more interested in him keeping the ball out the back of the net and I think he's made a lot of blunders this season. A lot of goalkeeping errors. You go to the game against Bayern Munich, a couple of errors, and even the game against Galatasaray where I thought the third goal, he went down so early," said Sutton.
“'I'm not so sure about him. I think Manchester United will make a change. I'm not saying this season but I think at the end of the season they need to get an upgrade on Onana," added the former Blackburn striker. Altay Bayindir was another goalkeeper who joined the Red Devils this summer to reinforce their goalkeeping, but the Turkish player has yet to make his debut. Erik Ten Hag planned to give him minutes in the League Cup against Crystal Palace but chose Onana and said both goalkeepers still needed to adapt.
The Man Utd manager has not hesitated to defend and support his goalkeeper in the press conference every time he has made a mistake.
