Manchester United has reportedly increased their interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Matheus Cunha after learning that the Brazilian's new deal includes a £62.5 million release clause.
The clause will go into effect at the end of the current campaign, regardless of whether Wolves are relegated to the Championship or stay in the Premier League.
Cunha, who joined Wolves from Atletico Madrid in 2022, has impressed with 11 goals and 4 assists in 24 appearances this season, making him a sought-after target for several top clubs, including Tottenham and Arsenal.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, "United have been monitoring Cunha closely and could reignite their interest in the summer."
Following reports, the Red Devils are giving Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres priority, but they see Cunha as a solid backup in case talks for the Swedish striker fail.
Wolves manager Vitor Pereira has expressed his desire to retain Cunha but acknowledged that triggering the release clause would leave the club powerless to stop a move.
