Man United boss Erik ten Hag's position at the club is under serious threat following the disappointing 3-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday. The head coach has only managed to win two games from the opening six in the Premier League so far, with Man United currently sitting in 12th position with 7 points. Although Ten Hag has dismissed concerns about being sacked, his future at the club continues to be questioned.
According to the 'Mirror', the Dutch international's role will be put under consideration by Sir Jim Ratcliffe after the upcoming international break. This means that Ten Hag has the opportunity to turn things in his favour in Man United's next two fixtures, which see them taking trips to Porto in the Europa League and Aston Villa in the Premier League.
In the meantime, the Red Devils have reportedly detected Ten Hag's potential replacements in Simone Inzaghi from Inter Milan, and secondarily, Gareth Southgate, who is currently without a job after departing the England national team. Inzaghi took over Inter Milan in 2021 from Antonio Conte, and since, he has won a Serie A title, two Coppa Italia, and three Supercoppa Italiana trophies. He also lead Inter to the Champions League final in the 2022/23 season, losing out to Manchester City after a hard-fought duel.
United's interest in the Italian coach comes just few months after the club backed Ten Hag to remain, with Club chief Berrada leading the frontlines in September: "We're very happy with that decision," he said. "Erik has our full backing and we have worked very closely together in this transfer window. We're going to continue working very closely with him to help him get the best results out of the team. Do we still believe in Erik? Absolutely. We think Erik is the right coach for us and we're fully backing him."
