Bruno Fernandes is in the Portugal camp ahead of Roberto Martinez's side's Nations League games against Croatia and Scotland.
The Manchester United skipper spoke in an interview about his side's current situation and admitted that the Red Devils are not ready to win the Premier League after last week's 3-0 defeat to Liverpool.
The midfielder revealed that the Old Trafford side aims to finish in the top four to play in next season's Champions League, suggesting that Erik ten Hag's side are not in a position to fight for silverware just yet.
“Yes, I am perfectly aware that this Manchester United is not ready to win the Premier League. We are, indeed, fighting for the title with the concrete and real objective of trying to finish in the top four, in the places that give access to the Champions League," said Fernandes.
The former Sporting Lisbon player said the team still has a lot of room for improvement to achieve its goal. "There is still a lot to improve for the greater objective, and for my dream, which is to one day win this championship,” he concluded.
